Victorville Chamber Votes to Stop State Raids

A broad coalition of business, local government, labor, public safety and transportation advocates are working to qualify the Local Taxpayer, Public Safety and Transportation Protection Act for California's November 2010 statewide ballot. If passed, this measure would prevent the State from raiding funds that are currently dedicated to local governments, and it would prevent the State from diverting gas tax revenues that voters have dedicated to vital transportation and transit improvements and services.

The Legislative Action Committee voted to join the California League of Cities in their efforts to stop the California Legislature from raiding local funds. The Victorville Chamber of Commerce firmly believes that a raid on RDA funds is a raid on local business and quality of life and comes at a time when local agencies are already struggling to stay afloat.
